De Justitiële Informatiedienst werd per 1 juli 2011 agentschap van het ministerie van Veiligheid en Justitie. De organisatie is voortgekomen uit de Justitiële Documentatiedienst en beheert onder meer de Justitiële Documentatie, het Centraal Digitaal Depot en het VIP.

De Justitiële Informatiedienst (Justid) beheert centrale persoons- en strafrechtelijke informatievoorzieningen zoals de Justitiële Documentatie (strafblad), het Centraal Digitaal Depot en de identificatie van verdachten via vingerafdrukken (HAVANK). Justid zorgt voor betrouwbare gegevensuitwisseling tussen politie, OM, rechtspraak en ketenpartners. Het agentschap in Almelo levert hierbij 24/7 dienstverlening.
