/ 03 — History
Founded
1993
De Koninklijke Bibliotheek werd in 1993 verzelfstandigd als ZBO onder de Wet op het hoger onderwijs en wetenschappelijk onderzoek. De KB bestaat sinds 1798 en is de nationale bibliotheek van Nederland; sinds 2015 coördineert zij ook het openbare bibliothekenstelsel.

De Koninklijke Bibliotheek is de nationale bibliotheek van Nederland en coördineert het nationale bibliotheeknetwerk conform de Wet stelsel openbare bibliotheekvoorzieningen. De KB beheert de depotcollectie van alle Nederlandse publicaties, het websitearchief en erfgoedcollecties als de Middelnederlandse handschriften. Digitale diensten omvatten Delpher (historische kranten), de Nationale Bibliotheekcatalogus en e-books voor bibliotheekleden.
