/ 03 — History
Founded
1995
De RvA ontstond in 1995 uit een fusie van de Nederlandse Kalibratie Organisatie (NKO), STERLAB/STERIN en de Raad voor Certificatie. Per 1 januari 2010 werd de RvA bij wet aangewezen als nationale accreditatie-instantie op basis van EU-Verordening 765/2008.

De RvA accrediteert conformiteitsbeoordelende instellingen op basis van ISO- en EN-normen. Door accreditatie wordt vastgesteld dat keuringen, inspecties, kalibraties en certificaties betrouwbaar, onafhankelijk en deskundig plaatsvinden. De RvA is internationaal erkend via multilaterale overeenkomsten (EA-MLA, IAF-MLA, ILAC-MRA) en is sinds 2010 wettelijk aangewezen als de nationale accreditatie-instantie in Nederland conform EU-Verordening 765/2008.
