Skal Biocontrole werd in 1985 opgericht om de biologische productiemethode te certificeren. De stichting is in Nederland bij de Landbouwkwaliteitswet aangewezen als controleorgaan voor biologische productie conform de EU-verordening 2018/848.

Stichting Skal Biocontrole is het ZBO dat in Nederland de biologische productie toetst en certificeert conform EU-verordening 2018/848. Skal inspecteert biologische boeren, verwerkers, importeurs en detaillisten en verleent het Europese biologische logo. Alleen producten met een Skal-certificaat mogen in Nederland als 'biologisch' worden verkocht. Skal is gevestigd in Zwolle.
